I use fetch page to get user reviews from Google plus to then create an RSS feed for them - the most recent reviews are marked as "in the last week" by Google Plus - using regex I can convert this to TODAY which i then use as as the PubDate for the RSS feed.

The problem I have is that each Google plus review that is "in the last week" gets treated as new every day within the RSS feed I created because the PubDate gets changed to the current day, thus treating an "old" review as new.

Is there a way to set the date to today once, and then not update again?

Thanks in advance

mXmlReader.setContentHandler(this);

currTag = false;
if(localName.equalsIgnoreCase("title"))
post.setTitle(currTagVal);
else if (localName.equalsIgnoreCase("item")) {
posts.add(post);
}
}

I'm working on a custom RSS feed aggregator which parses RSS feeds from various news-type sites, shows a summary and links back to the original site. Nothing terribly exciting.

I'm trying to get an image for each article as well by using the original page's og:image meta tag.

However, I'm finding that a lot of the URLs in the og:image tag return 400, 403 or 404 errors when programatically accessing the images.

Some seem to check for a browser's User Agent string in the headers, so for testing only, I've set my User-Agent string header to that of Safari's: this gets some og:image links working, but it is not an acceptable solution (a crawler masquerading as a browser).

This does not work for the majority of images though, which continue to return 400/403.

Assuming that all the sites I've tested do not have missing image files and they are proactively preventing anyone other than Facebook/Twitter from using those images, is there any other way to reliably and programmatically retrieve images to display in an RSS aggregator?

Feedly etc al all seem to have images for the vast majority of their aggregated content, so I'm not clear as to why I'm having such difficulty.

I have looked for this answer to this question on here but I can't seem to find anything which is relevant to this particular issue.

I am currently using simpleXML to parse an RSS feed, in order to return thumbnail images by going through the nodes to parse "media:thumbnail". I have managed to do this and return all thumbnail URLs, so I know that I am getting to the right content, like so:

<?php
$url = "http://feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/rss.xml?edition=uk";
$xml = simplexml_load_file($url);
foreach($xml->channel->item as $item) {
$media = $item->children('media', 'http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/');
foreach($media->thumbnail as $thumb) {
echo $thumb->attributes()->url;
}
}
?>

This echos all the image urls. But when I store this in to a variable and try to echo this later as the img src, it only returns one image, rather than all:

<?php
$url = "http://feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/rss.xml?edition=uk";
$xml = simplexml_load_file($url);
foreach($xml->channel->item as $item) {
$media = $item->children('media', 'http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/');
foreach($media->thumbnail as $thumb) {
$image = $thumb->attributes()->url;
}
}
?>
<div><img src = <?php echo $image; ?> /></div>

How can I echo all of the URLs in to individual images? Thanks for looking.

I'm parsing this Amazon xml rss feed: http://www.amazon.com/gp/rss/bestsellers/books/ref=zg_bs_books_rsslink/182-7950400-1121525 and correctly getting titles and authors to put in a listview.
Now I would parse the cover image too and correctly obtaining the image link.
Tried to modify the custom adapter but I'm not able to.
Created an ImageView per row but how populate it?
Help or suggestion would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
