Taoline will show information at the bottom left corner, and show different information dependent on the cursor position, if the current echo area is in used, then the information of buffer name, time...etc won't be shown. Comparing 2 pictures below,
If we put cursor at some places that will trigger eldoc-mode showing information in echo area, than the information of buffer name, time, etc will not be shown, which in some sense is not convenient. There is another similar package called awesome-tray, which can show information at the right bottom corner and won't interfere with the origin information shown in echo area. I don't know whether awesome-tray use the same technique as taoline to hide modeline and if we can reference some technique from it, but I think using right bottom corner to show information to prevent interfering with the origin echo area might be a good idea.
