In the last few days the wallet wasn't able to connect to Creampay's node, I tried many times during the weekend. The specific node id was 02c69a0b4cb468660348d6d457d9212563ad08fb94d424395da6796fb74a13f276, I had this channel open for many months.
Since over the weekend the fees on the blockchain came down significantly (to around 6sats/byte) I decided it was a good idea to force close the channel and open a new one to a different node.
The biggest issue with this experience was that nowhere in the force close flow was I able to know how many fees I would actually pay. I understand that they can't be changed because the force-close transaction was signed by both parties in advance but it would be very useful to know how much I would be paying in fees, besides the given warning that it will be "more expensive".
Because the channel was months old and was opened during a period of low fees I naively expected the force-close transaction to not have a very high fee (and also because in the channel details it mentioned "Minimum channel reserve: 0.04997 mBTC", which I assumed would be what was used for the force close).
I ended up paying roughly 0.22 mBTC in fees on a balance of 0.32 mBTC, or roughly 66% of the channels balance, not a good surprise.
A few other UX issues I noticed:
The channel view has been showing "Refund in 144+ blocks" since yesterday, even though when I open the channel details it now says "Refund block height: 681,718 (current is 681,722)". It's actually still showing that, even though the refund transaction already has 2 confirmations.
The channel close transaction only showed up in the "Payments" view after block 681718, meaning that for half a day it simply looked like the money had disappeared and I had no way to know what fee I had actually just agreed to pay.
While a channel is in "Offline" state you are given the option to change the IP address but aren't told what the current one is, in case you want to back it up and restore if the alternative IP also isn't connectable.
