This package is used by many of the IPython notebooks...

Its true - we're slowly trying to convert the notebooks that we made using our own aotools library to more generalised scripts that can be automatically tested and plotted. The first couple are currently plotted to a website here, though they do require a lot more explanation!

Aotools is basically a slightly expanded version of the 'aosimlib' file in soapy. At some point I intend on taking it out and making a dedicated aotools package under the Soapy organisation. This could also have lots of useful analysis tools in for other AO applications.

Excellent! I wanted to see if I could contribute a test that shows that you indeed get 0.134 (D/r0)^(6/5) [Noll 1976] for the residual phase variance after tip/tilt correction. Something that matered for what I am working on.

That would be a great test! Hopefully you can figure out the organisation of the package and have a crack at adding it?
