New Version??? #931
Comments
This is Alex (Dev of Thorium) from another post : "The code is all ready, after ALOT of work. The thing that is halting releases now is that we are getting crashes on Windows and MacOS with official, non-debug builds. Debug builds work. But they are way too huge (filesize and memory footprint) and slow to ever ship in a public build. So until I fix those, releases are halted. I might make a Linux release, since that is the one platform that is working perfectly (and it's always the platform I have the least issues on and easiest to debug, just another reason I like Linux. I like Windows too, don't get me wrong, but I digress.) But like, the majority of my users are on Windows, so... I'm trying my best I promise. I also have a new job (ironically, the job is working on another browser for a company). Trying to code for Thorium, do my job, have relax time, and then now at the same time juggle trying to fix these Windows/MacOS builds as soon as possible while making sure not to slack on any of it (especially the job LOL). Is just alot for one man." |
On the computer with thorium installed (which is the build SSE3) I use linux mint 22.1, so no problem for me if during this period only Linux is kept supported. |
I had tested the last release of avx2 windows version (assume that is the better one to use as my cpu does support it) and compared to 136.0a1 firefox.. it was slower in benchmarks.. dunno why but given it's much older maybe hopefully new one comes soon will be interesting to retest things and see. |
Do we have any noew features with it or just a bug fixes with a bump? And what's version bump we are going to have? Maybe 131 or 132. |
When will the new version of Thorium be released? If not, I’ll have to force myself to revert to Chrome due to the obvious functionality, compatibility, and security concerns associated with using outdated and unmaintained software. Please, Thorium is a great and fast browser, and I’d be disappointed to go back to Chrome since I have an old PC.
