Description
Hi :)
I’m a user of Asahi Linux on a MacBook Pro M1. You’re doing an excellent job, but for me there’s one very important feature missing – ASHA mode. Apple computers with M1 Pro and newer/more powerful processors running macOS have the ASHA feature. Unfortunately, Apple computers with the M1 processor do not.
This mode allows transmitting audio over Bluetooth Low Energy using the G.722 codec (or similar) to audio processors or hearing aids. I know there are projects on GitHub related to implementing this function, but it requires manual setup, which is extremely complicated for me. Perhaps it would require using BTstack. If I’m not mistaken, this feature is supposedly embedded in an experimental version of Pipewire, but I haven’t been able to successfully download it – and when I did manage, I ran into compilation issues.
So my short question is:
Could you integrate this feature into the system? And why do you think Apple didn’t include this function for M1 processors? From a technical perspective, I don’t see any obstacles.
Thank you for your great work on Asahi Linux, and best regards.
