🌱 Greenstagram Code of Conduct

🌍 Our Pledge

We as members, contributors, and leaders pledge to make participation in our Greenstagram community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, color, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

We pledge to act and interact in ways that contribute to an open, welcoming, diverse, inclusive, and healthy community that mirrors our commitment to environmental sustainability and positive change.

🌿 Our Standards

✅ Examples of behavior that contributes to a positive environment include:

  • 🤝 Being Respectful: Using welcoming and inclusive language
  • 🌱 Growth Mindset: Being open to constructive feedback and different viewpoints
  • 🤲 Empathy: Showing empathy towards other community members
  • 🙏 Accountability: Accepting responsibility and apologizing to those affected by our mistakes
  • 🌍 Community Focus: Focusing on what is best not just for us as individuals, but for the overall community
  • 📚 Knowledge Sharing: Helping others learn and grow in sustainable technology
  • 🎯 Constructive Collaboration: Providing constructive feedback in code reviews and discussions
  • 🌟 Recognition: Acknowledging others' contributions and celebrating successes

❌ Examples of unacceptable behavior include:

  • 🚫 Harassment: The use of sexualized language or imagery, and sexual attention or advances of any kind
  • 🎭 Trolling: Trolling, insulting or derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks
  • 👥 Privacy Violations: Public or private harassment, publishing others' private information without permission
  • 🔥 Disruption: Deliberately derailing discussions or being disruptive
  • 💢 Aggression: Aggressive behavior, intimidation, or threats
  • 🏷️ Discrimination: Any form of discrimination based on personal characteristics
  • 📬 Spam: Excessive self-promotion, off-topic posts, or spam
  • ⚖️ Misconduct: Any other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting

As an eco-focused community, we also encourage:

🛡️ Enforcement Responsibilities

Community leaders are responsible for clarifying and enforcing our standards of acceptable behavior and will take appropriate and fair corrective action in response to any behavior that they deem inappropriate, threatening, offensive, or harmful.

Community leaders have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned to this Code of Conduct, and will communicate reasons for moderation decisions when appropriate.

📍 Scope

This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces, and also applies when an individual is officially representing the community in public spaces. Examples of representing our community include:

  • 💻 Digital Spaces:

    • Using an official project e-mail address
    • Posting via an official social media account
    • Acting as an appointed representative at online or offline events
    • Contributing to the Greenstagram repository
  • 🌐 Community Platforms:

    • GitHub repositories and discussions
    • Discord server
    • Community forums
    • Social media interactions related to the project
  • 🎤 Events and Conferences:

    • Speaking at events as a Greenstagram representative
    • Representing the project at conferences or meetups
    • Participating in hackathons as a team member

📢 Reporting

If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify the community leaders responsible for enforcement as soon as possible:

🔒 What to Include in Your Report

When reporting, please include:

  1. 📝 Description: A clear description of the incident
  2. 📅 When: Date and time the incident occurred
  3. 📍 Where: Location/platform where it happened
  4. 👥 Who: People involved (if you're comfortable sharing)
  5. 📋 Context: Any relevant background information
  6. 📎 Evidence: Screenshots, links, or other documentation (if available)
  7. 🎯 Impact: How the incident affected you or others
  8. 🔮 Desired Outcome: What resolution you're hoping for

🛡️ Confidentiality

All community leaders are obligated to respect the privacy and security of the reporter of any incident. We will handle reports with discretion and maintain confidentiality to protect all parties involved.

⚖️ Enforcement Guidelines

Community leaders will follow these Community Impact Guidelines in determining the consequences for any action they deem in violation of this Code of Conduct:

1. 📝 Correction

Community Impact: Use of inappropriate language or other behavior deemed unprofessional or unwelcome in the community.

Consequence: A private, written warning from community leaders, providing clarity around the nature of the violation and an explanation of why the behavior was inappropriate. A public apology may be requested.

2. ⚠️ Warning

Community Impact: A violation through a single incident or series of actions.

Consequence: A warning with consequences for continued behavior. No interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, for a specified period of time. This includes avoiding interactions in community spaces as well as external channels like social media. Violating these terms may lead to a temporary or permanent ban.

3. ⏰ Temporary Ban

Community Impact: A serious violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior.

Consequence: A temporary ban from any sort of interaction or public communication with the community for a specified period of time. No public or private interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, is allowed during this period. Violating these terms may lead to a permanent ban.

4. 🚫 Permanent Ban

Community Impact: Demonstrating a pattern of violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior, harassment of an individual, or aggression toward or disparagement of classes of individuals.

Consequence: A permanent ban from any sort of public interaction within the community.

🔄 Appeals Process

If you believe you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct, you should notify the project maintainers with a concise description of your grievance. Appeals will be reviewed by community leaders who were not involved in the original incident.

📋 Appeal Process:

  1. 📧 Submit Appeal: Email yuvrajudaywal@gmail.com with subject "[Appeal] - Your Name"
  2. 📝 Provide Details: Include your version of events and why you believe the action was unfair
  3. ⏱️ Review Period: Appeals will be reviewed within 7 days
  4. 📢 Response: You will receive a written response with the decision and reasoning

🌱 Restorative Justice

When appropriate, we believe in restorative rather than purely punitive measures. This might include:

  • 📚 Educational Opportunities: Learning about the impact of behavior
  • 🤝 Community Service: Contributing positively to the community
  • 💬 Mediated Discussions: Facilitated conversations between parties
  • 🔄 Behavior Change Plans: Working together on improvement strategies

🎓 Education and Prevention

We are committed to preventing violations through:

  • 📖 Regular Training: Code of conduct workshops for maintainers
  • 📚 Clear Documentation: Keeping this document updated and accessible
  • 🌟 Positive Examples: Highlighting great community behavior
  • 🔄 Feedback Loops: Regular community surveys and feedback sessions

🌍 Cultural Sensitivity

As a global community focused on environmental issues, we recognize that:

  • 🌐 Different Perspectives: Environmental challenges vary by region and culture
  • 💬 Communication Styles: People from different backgrounds may communicate differently
  • ⏰ Time Zones: Contributors work across different time zones and schedules
  • 🗣️ Language Barriers: English may not be everyone's first language
  • 💰 Economic Factors: Access to technology and resources varies globally

We encourage patience, understanding, and inclusive practices that welcome contributors from all backgrounds.
