Cannot disable sharing buttons from a block theme

Quick summary

Once Sharing buttons are enabled, they appended to the end of post content, even on block themes. However if I have a block theme, I don't have the option to remove the sharing buttons:

I need to switch to a classic theme first so I can see this screen:

Then I can disable them and switch back to a block theme.

Steps to reproduce

1. Select a classic theme
2. Enable social buttons
3. Switch to a block theme
4. Notice that you cannot disable social buttons
