(Linux, AMD) No usable GPU found

Describe the bug

Hello ,

i have just installed the software BOINC - Alpha 8.2.15 on my Computer and upon starting found this error:

however, the GPU should be supported (RDNA 3) and it seem the driver is incorporated out of the box via amd-firmware-graphics or similar package.

is this normal behaviour with open-source drivers?
is the amdgpu-pro package needed (difficult to install since not supported on the distro i use, eg. devuan)

Steps to reproduce

install boinc
check if gpu calculation is available

Expected behavior

it could use the gpu for calculation if needed.

OpenGL is not enough, you need to have OpenCL drivers installed. What does 'clinfo' commands prints to you?

thank you for clarifiying this;

there is no OpenCL installed yet, since it is not available out-of-box; and not easily available via normal route for this OS;
however , have a second parttition inplace, where OpenCL is activated (via a detour, installing official AMD amdgpu /rocm driver for Ubuntu)

opencl is active then and shows like

it seems the computer is set in addtition to not use the GPU even if available?

the latest message is "suspending GPU computation - computer is in use" and it just sits there.

is there an "volume knob" to limit the GPU activity on BOINC? since lately there have been forthcoming some rather juicy energy bills, or should i say unreasonable ones, which makes me re-consider my computer-use at the moment, including using BOINC altogether.

also, do you know of any other route to activate OpenCL on such AMD systems, maybe via opensource drivers`?
