Not strictly related to sound, but as a tool made for gamers in general and Steam Big Picture mode specifically, I think it makes sense.
I use Big Picture mode to launch my games on my secondary display (which is the TV) by making it the primary one, but then the monitor remains on and degrades the immersive experience.
How to make it better?
It would be great if in addition to switching over the sound, SoundSwitch could dim / darken / black out all non-primary displays
Any alternative?
Manually open some blank JPG
Physically shut down the monitor (but that can result in inadvertent switching of the main display even after the game has quit).
