Blezz fails to grab keyboard

Excited to try Blezz, but when compiling and running on Ubuntu 17.10 I get
"Error in gui, got the message: failed grabbing a keyboard."
I've tried increasing the number of iterations in the call to grabKeyboard

blezz/src/gui.c

Line 280 in 8643772

grabKeyboard(1000);

with no luck.

Happy to help with debugging this, just not sure where to start.
