About the app

Pathy is a very light weight cli for adding apps to path. When you run "pathy toolName" in the parent directory of a folder named "toolName" that contains an executeable named "toolName", it copies that directory to ~/.pathy/apps/toolName and adds it to path by adding a line to ~/.bashrc. This is a very simple tool to simplify the process of taking an extracted tar.xz, tar.gz, zip, ect. app and adding it to path. It is very simple and fits all the eligibility rubric fully. It runs on any bash shell (it relies on .bashrc) and is arm64 only.

A CLI tool for adding applications to path

Pathy is a free, open source (MIT licensed) tool to easily add applications to path on bash shells.

Use from your terminal
 > pathy help (how to use)
 > pathy license (license clause info)
 > pathy [appName] (add an app folder to path, must be a valid folder name located directly in the directory that you are in and must a properly named executeable file inside)
 > bash ~/.pathy/pathy/remove.sh (delete pathy forever (will not remove apps added to path with pathy))

I don't understand the point of this app. It copies an executable to a "pathy" path folder that is not listed in $PATH, but then adds it to $PATH with a change to .bashrc. Just copy the executable to ~/.bin or ~/.local/share/bin? That solution is more robust, universal, and simple.

While this app didn't break any pi-apps guidelines, it does fall into the moderator discretion category in the eligibility guidelines:

Even if your app follows all of these guidelines, there still may be a reason we decide not to add it to the official Pi-Apps repository. If that happens, you can still take advantage of Pi-Apps's features by telling your users to import the zip file for your app.

I've also gone ahead and edited the guidelines to account for future apps like this.

Low-effort apps with questionable usefulness will be rejected.
