The datatypes described in the current documentation are copied from VSS.
VSS later removed byteBuffer type. It is assumed that an array of uint8 will serve the same purpose.

This was a question for the "language specification" that continued development under the IFEX project.

byteBuffer has since been removed from the spec, and a few other changes pending A commit is pending to remove traces of it also in the implementation.
