Hi all, I love mellowplayer - thank you for the work you put into it. I ran into a problem recently
Description:
Bluetooth headphones (Sony WH-CH500) stopped working in Mellowplayer on ubuntu 18.10. Anything I play over Mellowplayer is outputted from laptop speakers. All other apps play audio correctly (browsers, media players...)
Everything was working fine up until few days ago when I installed KDE desktop, now mellowplayer wont use bluetooth even if I switch back to ubuntu gnome desktop environment.
In the audio settings "applications" tab, mellowplayer is identified as chromium, and it's possible to manually switch it to headphones, but has no effect - the sound is still coming from laptop speakers
Steps To Reproduce:
Using defautl ubuntu 18.10, install mellowplayer from repos
Connect bluetooth headphones, play music - everything works i.e. music is played through the headphones
Install kde desktop, and switch to it. Play music through mellowplayer
EXPECTED:
Music is played through bluetooth headphones
ACTUAL:
Mellowplayer now only plays through laptop speakers and ignores bluetooth headphones
This is hardly a bug in MellowPlayer since we don't handle audio playback ourself. QtWebEngine (which is based on chromium) is responsible for that. I suspect a settings conflict between KDE and GNome.
Make sure Device Preference is correctly set in KDE Settings > Multimedia > Audio And Video
I remember I once had a similar issue and solved it by starting MellowPlayer after the bluetooth connection is established and configured.
The github repository will be archived soon and this issue will become read-only. We suggest you continue the discussion and follow the progress on this issue at gitlab.
