NetworkHelper show real-time upload/download speed, currently there is no way to get network transfer speed.

How would this be useful within an app? How is this different from testing your speed in the browser?

When media player playing online videos, we have to know the network status and video status. Also we won't open browser to test network status while playing video, this will interup video experience.
YouTube online player has many debug info, such as spped and video resolution, etc.
This function should be done by MediaPlayerElement, but unfortunately they don't!
So that's why I'm asking you to help, and currently there's no api or third party extensions doing that.

I used following code, but it seems that the data usage api is not real-time.
