Large items cause issues in background removal and training

Branching from #1196, wherein we figured out the issue was memory/size related. @JoyfulGen and I have been experimenting with background removal and image size. For specific experimentation and finding the boundaries of image and input sizes I figured a distinct issue is best (also, for keeping track of what we've tried etc.)
