underlay for missing words/brackets is broken #863

Something is broken about the underlay when there are brackets/missing words. E.g. https://cantus.simssa.ca/manuscript/588309/?folio%5B0%5D=159v&chant=2&search%5Btype%5D=all&search%5Bquery%5D=spectabiles&pageAlias=Folio%20159v

It seems like the 6---6 is not being matched to the brackets correctly.
