Just starting with the library and using the sample code in the docs

from docling.document_converter import DocumentConverter

source = "path_to_pdf.pdf"  # PDF path or URL
converter = DocumentConverter()
result = converter.convert(source)
print(result.document.export_to_markdown())

But I get the error SettingsError: error parsing value for field "debug" from source "EnvSettingsSource"

Is there any extra setup I need to do?

I'm not able to reproduce this behavior. Can you please provide a few more details?

• Operating system?
• Which python version?
• The output of docling --version

• Operating system is MacOS
• Python version 3.12 with a venv environment
• Docling version: 2.4.0
• Docling Core version: 2.3.1
• Docling IBM Models version: 2.0.3
• Docling Parse version: 2.0.3

Additional context - I'm able to from docling.document_converter import DocumentConverter without those errors above ^ but when I try the same from within Jupyter

Interesting. We suspect there could be some ENV variable which is triggering some logic in the internal settings. Maybe Jupyter has something which collides in the naming.

I just tried

pip install notebook
# installed notebook-7.2.2

jupyter notebook

For me it works without such errors.
