[Suggestion] Blaze Flamethrower #1
Comments
Interesting idea. I'll have to think about this more when Quiverbow reaches a state where it's ready to have more content added. |
I wanted to see what could come of using a live blaze, essentially having a little slave blaze providing all the fire I needed. Of course, the cooldown is for balance reasons. Don't want people just running around torching everything. |
@leviathan143 How's coding going? Maybe make a Discord for discussing the mod? Could get some nice responses. |
@darthvader45 |
Okay, sorry. Just miss this mod a lot. |
Just checking in, 326 errors to go? Mind if I have a go at clearing out some of those errors? |
You can, but i'd recommend starting from Leviathan's fork. They've made some solid advancements on that 1.11 port over time, including clearing out those mentioned errors. |
@Domochevsky Okay, btw, I'm on this fork right now, and the 326 errors thing is the title of this commit: 3233efd Are there new commits I'm not aware of? |
@darthvader45 Yes, there are a heck of a lot more commits. The port is actually almost release ready. That commit you're looking at is 9 months old, the latest commit is 4db40fa. You seem to be looking at the last commit to one of the root subfolders, not the last commit to the branch. |
Wonder how frustrated you'd be trying to update this to 1.12.2. Would be crazy trying to get all the weapons into the new formats. |
@darthvader45 I'm writing a converter to do that. It won't be perfect, but it'll be a start. I'll probably ask for some community assistance on checking and finishing off the porting of the models. |
Yeah, if you need help with that, I'd be more than happy. I need some
experience getting 1.12.x models to work anyways, this'll teach me some new
things.
Edit: How's it going? Just checking in from time to time. No rush, just curious.

@leviathan143 Name: Inferno Pack Lore: I've been working on ways to make the Nether Bellows more efficient, and in the process came up with a new weapon. It takes the power of a captive Blaze and funnels the innate fiery aura they produce into a stream of literal flame. This quickly exhausts the Blaze of their fuel, and they need to recharge over time before it can be used again. This is amazing, an infinite ammo weapon that can deal devastating fire damage, though the recharge is a limiting factor in this. Hopefully it will prove useful. Note: Cannot be used via the AA, only the player can control this amazing weapon. |
Hm, something's missing from the Science here. How do you actually extract the Blaze's power? A cage alone won't do it. Also, this needs heat shielding if you have that angry thing strapped to your back in an open cage. This also seems like it'd eventually kill the Blaze, if it drains them, requiring you to capture more. |
There's a funnel at the bottom siphoning their fiery aura. This does drain the Blaze, but not completely, as it leaves them temporarily inactive, like they are after firing their three shots. Also, blazes are not sentient, being just magical constructs of flame and supposedly metal, given they make clanking noises when hit. Not sure how to implement heat shielding, maybe some form of armor that the user can wear alongside the flamethrower, like in the video? Or maybe dousing the cage itself in fire resistance potion? Edit: If you'd like, I could pass along the .tbl file for editing in Tabula, so you can make changes as necessary. |
I might make it a multi-stage crafting thing like the Sugar Engine, with an added hopper for the funnel at the bottom, along with a comparator to act as a limiter (so it can only drain the blaze of the equivalent of 3 fireballs worth or energy) The nether bricks act as an insulator, as they are made of netherrack, which has already been proven to handle the intense heat of the Nether and even blazes, as it can resist being melted by fire. |
Also, noticed you've been working hard, Dao. How's it going so far? |
Current project is a from scratch reimplementation of the Arms Assistant (It's a bit of a mess internally). The AA is also getting a new model. The old one looks very odd with multiple upgrades, since they're all visually just tacked on. The rest of QB's content doesn't look so ramshackle, so I decided to redo it. Haven't done much for a while though, been tinkering with a big Fabric project. |
Cool, if you need any help with making sure the items are craftable and work as intended, I'd be more than willing to help put in some code. |
@leviathan143
I noticed this music video called Dragonhearted. Check out the video @ 1:03:
The blaze flamethrower seems to utilize a captive blaze. Perhaps we could craft a blaze item using 4 blaze rods, 4 blaze powder and a block of soul sand (to sustain life) that is crafted with 4 iron bars (the block), 2 gold ingots and 2 nether bricks to create a blaze cage. The tube would be made with
6 slimeballs, 2cocoa beans (for the color) and 1 string, and the nozzle with 4 iron ingots. Crafted together, you get a flamethrower that is more powerful, but requires the blaze to recharge for 10 seconds after running out. Offers an infinite ammo, long recharge alternative to the nether bellows, which can be quite useful if you managed to kill a few blazes.
