Usually, water scarcity impacts at midpoint level are calculated by multiplying a (regionalized?) LCI with regionalized characterization factors. In the case of the AWARE (Available Water Remaining) method, this means that we assume that the LCI is marginal (it does not change the overall water availability in the watershed). But what if the inventory is non-marginal (etc., in LCAs of entire sectors)?
This package allows calculating AWARE results based on water availability changes due to water flow inventory.
This involves:
retrieving the regionalized LCI of water consumption
on a regional basis recalculate the impact using the AWARE method
feed the impact back to brightway
challenges:
handling different levels of regionalization (watershed, country, region)
handling regionalization in general: the brightway way?
