Description
Old Protocol (Followed in Baseline HH survey and FollowUp Rounds 1, 2 and 3)
- Assigned Household (HH) for E. coli Water Sample Collection:
- Case 1: Both running and stored water are from JJM
- Action: Sample collection will happen.
- Case 2: Only running water is from JJM
- Action: Sample collection will happen.
- Case 3: Both running and stored water are not from JJM
- Action: Sample collection will not happen.
- Case 4: Only stored water is from JJM
- Action: Sample collection will not happen.
- Case 1: Both running and stored water are from JJM
Clarification: We will not use a replacement if the HH is available for the survey but their running water is not from JJM for chlorine testing. Testing will be done with stored water regardless of its source. If another JJM tap (e.g., from a neighbor) is used, running water from there can be collected.
New Protocol (Followed in Monthly IDEXX monitoring in July, Aug and Sept 2024 (monsoon rounds))
Previously, if stored JJM water was unavailable, we collected any stored water, resulting in some non-JJM samples, which were later excluded from analyses.
New Approach:
- Case 1: Both tap and stored water are from JJM
- Action: Sample collection will happen.
- Other Cases: If both samples are not from JJM taps, use a replacement.
Note: Whether HH drinks from JJM is irrelevant for sample collection. If a tap is present and both samples are from JJM, testing and collection will proceed.
