P1_CharPageFmtElem

Aim : Develop an HTML Document for a web page using Character and Page formatting elements.

  • Various tags
  • Create Divisions
  • Insert an image

Theory

Character Formatting involves the following tags:

  • <b> - Bold text
  • <strong> - Important text
  • <i> - Italic text
  • <em> - Emphasized text
  • <mark> - Marked text
  • <small> - Smaller text
  • <del> - Deleted text
  • <ins> - Inserted text
  • <sub> - Subscript text
  • <sup> - Superscript text

Page Formatting involves the following tags:

  • Headings: HTML provides six levels of headings from <h1> to <h6>. <h1> is the largest heading and <h6> is the smallest one.
  • Paragraphs: Paragraphs are defined with the <p> tag.Text can be placed to separate into paragraphs.
  • Line Breaks: Line breaks are used to end the current line and takes the cursor to the next line. Line breaks are defined with the <br> tag.
  • Horizontal Rules: Horizontal rules are used to create a horizontal line. Horizontal rules are defined with the <hr> tag.
  • Comments: Comments are used to insert comments in the HTML source code. Comments are not displayed in the browsers. Comments are defined with the <!-- and --> tags.
  • Lists : HTML provides three types of lists: ordered lists, unordered lists, and definition lists.
    • Ordered Lists: Ordered lists are used to display the list items with numbering. Ordered lists are defined with the <ol> tag.
    • Unordered Lists: Unordered lists are used to display the list items with bullets. Unordered lists are defined with the <ul> tag.
    • Definition Lists: Definition lists are used to display the list of terms and their definitions. Definition lists are defined with the <dl> tag.
    • List Items: List items are used to define the items of ordered lists, unordered lists, and definition lists. List items are defined with the <li> tag.
  • Divisions: Divisions are used to group the HTML elements and apply styles to them. Divisions are defined with the <div> tag.
  • Spans: Spans are used to group the inline-elements and apply styles to them. Spans are defined with the <span> tag.
  • Images: Images are used to display the images on the web pages. Images are defined with the <img> tag.
  • Tables: Tables are used to display the data in tabular format. Tables are defined with the <table> tag.

Page Layout involves the following tags:

  • <header>: The <header> tag is used to define a header for a document or a section.
  • <nav>: The <nav> tag is used to define a set of navigation links.
  • <section>: The <section> tag is used to define a section in a document.
  • <article>: The <article> tag is used to define an independent, self-contained article.
  • <aside>: The <aside> tag is used to define content aside from the content (like a sidebar).
  • <footer>: The <footer> tag is used to define a footer for a document or a section.
