World War One, also known as the Great War, saw unprecedented destruction due to new military tactics and technology. The conflict ignited after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Serbia. Due to an extensive line of alliances, multiple superpowers were pulled into the war. It lasted from 1914 to 1918 in an Allied victory.

Estimations of casualities, including military and civilian personnel, is around 68 million
