 On October 22 2014, Parliament Hill was the target of multiple shootings that caused the unfortante death of Coperal Nathan Cirillo, a Canadian soldier who was positioned at the Canadian National War Memorial.
 The Coporol was fatally shot by Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, who then entered the nearby parliament building, where Parliament members were in attendence. After confrontation at the entrance, Zehaf-Bibeau ran inside and had a shootout with parliament security and died on scene.
