Will it work for debian package version of GIMP? If not, will it ever be supported to do so?

its less of an issue and more of a question, I mostly prefer system packages because they stay on theme with my system and usually work smoother with the system rather than flatpaks, I just wonder If could possibly apply this to non-flatpak version of gimp and if it ever be possible if I actually can't.

Agreed. Also as an Arch and Fedora user as well (including Debian) I rather avoid flatpaks when I can.

Same for me, I installed the official arch package and PhotoGIMP doesn't seem to work for me.

I used the Arch distribution, followed the instructions and everything worked. You should definitely backup your ~/.config/GIMP/3.0 directory and just be sure you don't accidentally overwrite directories in ~/.local/applications/icons.

It doesn't have all the enhancements, but it has enough for me to be happy.

Yes, it works with any GIMP 3.x installation - native packages, AppImage, or compiled from source. PhotoGIMP is just config files in ~/.config/GIMP/3.x/, it doesn't depend on Flatpak at all.

The only thing to watch out for: the config directory name must match your GIMP version. If you're running GIMP 3.2, the config goes into ~/.config/GIMP/3.2/, not 3.0/. The install script in #190 handles this automatically.

Tested with GIMP 3.2.2 AppImage on both Debian and Linux Mint, works fine.
