The typical belt balancer where you use a splitter, then merge them onto a central belt from opposite sides, loses compression once you upgrade to purple belts / splitters. It would be nice if they could continue working perfectly like they do with yellow / red / blue belts.

Make something like this:
compression

Connect the missing belt and watch the items go around the corner. See how well the lower belt maintains compression as the items are fed in from one side (the curving one is there for comparison purposes).

With blue belts, compression is maintained; only the final item has a gap between it and the rest. But if you build this with pink or green belts, a lot of compression is lost; it can only feed the items onto the belt much more slowly than the belt can move.
