The first time i attempt to open EDMC from my start menu, nothing happens. then if i try again i get the error msg seen above. the icon shows up in my tray, but i never get the window opening on my PC

It would be worth checking if you've somehow got the main UI windows entirely off-screen. It's the geometry config key, stored as per https://github.com/EDCD/EDMarketConnector/wiki/Troubleshooting#location-of-configuration-files .

EDMarketConnector.exe --reset-ui will reset all UI-related options, including the remembered screen position.

Other than that you'd need to supply the log files, as directed by the bug report template (which you seem to have entirely ignored/deleted) and hope an active developer (no longer me) takes a look.

Might also want to add some logic to startup to make sure EDMC (if it is not minimized) is actually on the renderable screen area.
