Adding the CORDEX regions as shapefile

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
It would be great if we had the CORDEX regions definition as a shapefile so that we can use them in ESMValTool for selecting different regions from the full globe.
The definition of the different regions can be found here:

There are several diagnostics suggested for the CMIP AR7 Fast Track Rapid Evaluation Framework (REF) that could/should be calculated for the different CORDEX regions so that the results are displayed for the regions separately.

Would you be able to help out?
I would not have the time to implement this myself, but I can help advise. This would be a feature that would be of great importance for ESMValTool to have.

We could probably use https://fiona.readthedocs.io/en/stable/manual.html#writing-new-files-from-scratch to write the files, but it may be better if an official shapefile could be provided by the CORDEX project.
