We have a lot of "top-level" content and I'm concerned that an across-the-top navigation is not that scalable/responsive (or scannable/usable) as a down-the-left style of navigation.

I like the one at the Google Play store. Big targets, relevant icons, etc.

But we'd instead have:

  • Blog
  • Docs
  • Hosting
  • Plugins
  • Services
  • Showcase
  • Support
  • Themes
  • etc...
