Weather App

A small weather app that displays current weather data for your location. This project was bootstrapped with Create React App.

Getting started

To run this application locally, you must have a recent Node.js version installed. This project also uses Yarn for package management. Install the necessary dependencies using the following commands:

# (Optional) install Yarn
$ npm install -g yarn

# (Required) install dependencies
$ yarn

# ... or using NPM
$ npm install

Environment variables

To run this application locally, you need an API key for the OpenWeatherMap API, which you can create for free. You can configure the application to use your API key by setting an environment variable.

First, create a new file called .env and copy the contents of .env.sample into it. Next, set the value of the REACT_APP_API_URL environment variable to your OpenWeatherMap API key.

Available Scripts

In the project directory, you can run:

yarn dev

Runs the app in the development mode.
Open http://localhost:3000 to view it in the browser.

The page will reload if you make edits.
You will also see any lint errors in the console.

yarn test

Launches the test runner in the interactive watch mode.
See the section about running tests for more information.

yarn build

Builds the app for production to the build folder.
It correctly bundles React in production mode and optimizes the build for the best performance.

The build is minified and the filenames include the hashes.
Your app is ready to be deployed!

See the section about deployment for more information.
