Per M-22-09:
GSA has historically tracked use of Federal non-.gov web URLs, but agency participation in GSA’s efforts has been voluntary and incomplete. To create a complete understanding of Federal use of domain names, within 60 days of the issuance of this memorandum, agencies must begin providing CISA and GSA any non-.gov hostnames used by their internet-accessible information systems. CISA and GSA will work with agencies to define a streamlined and mutually agreeable process for cataloging non-.gov hostnames and related data that minimizes manual effort.
This was at one point managed at https://search.gov/developer/govt-urls.html and then subsequently in this repository. Up until now, this project encompassed all levels of government (federal, state, local, and tribal). However, for practical purposes, the scope of this project needs to be reduced to that which is required - namely, just the non-.gov/.mil domains of federal agencies.
To that end, in the coming weeks and months, we will be working to:
- Update the repository to freeze and store a snapshot of the non-federal material for the use of posterity
- Process outstanding issues to incorporate domains from federal agencies and close those what are not
- Update the language that keeps this repository in sync with the direction of M-22-09 and provides instructions to agencies on how to submit information here.
- Update the Site Scanning program to begin harvesting the list of federal non-.gov/.mil domains tracked here.
