How to actually run the tutorial?

I went through the tutorial and executing it just shows me c source code. The end of the tutorial contains the line Try running the executable with the --help flag to see some options., so I did that and I didn't really see anything to guide me on how to actually run this. What's the preferred way to actually run the code generated from the tutorial?

Dump it to file and compile as usual.
