Maintenance of this package has now been transferred from MediaCloud to GateNLP. We're still finalising the transfer but here's a quick overview of the planned changes:

v0.6 will include everything currently in the dev branch, plus the open PRs. Current Python support (>=3.5) will remain the same for this release.

v1.0 will drop unsupported Python versions (<3.8). It will also include:

• significant performance improvements - very large sitemaps now take ~10% of the time they did before
• Improvements to graph traversal
• Improved customisation of request client
• A CLI tool to quickly grab sitemap URLs
• Support for additional sitemap extensions
• Real sitemap integration tests
• More detailed docs
