Define: "step-by-step protocol" #43
Comments
How do you interpret that phrase? What would you suggest instead? Perhaps I'm too close to it but I'm having trouble understanding what is unclear about the term "step-by-step protocol" or that sentence. |
Sorry, I'm not sure. I still don't know exactly what Glacier is. I just came visiting from Google and clicked "Learn More" on the home page... It's unclear if "step-by-step" is domain specific jargon, or a metaphor for the how the protocol works. In any case I suggest the description be reworked to avoid ambiguous terminology. |
I'm sorry but I'm still not understanding your confusion. "Step-by-step" is common English, not jargon or a metaphor. The Glacier Protocol will walk you through, one step at a time ("step-by-step"), a process to securely store your bitcoins. |
Right so what you're really saying is "The Glacier Protocol is a step-by-step methodology for storing bitcoins in a highly secure manner." ? |
Ah! I think we're getting somewhere. I'm not sure methodology is the best word; what about process? "The Glacier Protocol is a step-by-step process for storing bitcoins in a highly secure manner." What do you think? "Procedure" could also work. |
Yeap, that makes sense to me now! "Procedure" is probably more succinct, but may in this context be confused with computer procedure/function, so perhaps methodology is better. |
Consider updating _docs/overview.md, because
"step-by-step protocol" is not defined nor explained. And the introduction does not clarify what glacier is.
