Which audio and formats are supported if you use iOS?

Users are able to upload the following formats:
audio formats: mp3 ogg wav
video formats: mov avi mp4 ogg webm
Are all of these formats supported in the webapp as well as in the iOS-app?
If not, we could add some help information, or add a configuration page to disable certain types?

The list of file extensions is already customizable in Drupal. Truly separating the cms from the apps we have written means that we don't know what formats the final application will support. Therefore, these defaults look fine in my opinion.

Ok, but it is not clear what formats are supported in the iOS-app, and which are supported in the webapp. Can we use .wav in the iOS app?
Edit: found the information at https://github.com/IMAmuseum/tap-ios/wiki/Media-Considerations
For iOS mp3 for audio, and mpeg4 for video is supported, no other formats (?).

Will commit a help text for the media file field

Those supported formats are moving targets and extremely device dependent. Ideally we could point to a web site that outlines these specifications in the help text. I don't know of such a resource though.

Well, then we can probably add a text like:
'Please note that not all devices support all formats. Please contact your technical support which format to use.' and/or create a link to a taptours page. Just to make sure people start adding invalid file formats.
