Controller Support

Hey boss!
I am really good in Unity but this project is confusing me hard because if how controls are setup with animations. Keyboard controls suck, and want to use controller. How would I go about changing inputs in this project? I tried but ruins some things all the time.

Whoosh. I actually just saw this thread from a while ago like right now.

Honestly, my bad y’all had to go through all that to get this project working. Got pulled away from this for the past 4-5 years as I focus on graduating next year, but I’ll make sure to try to take down references of where I say “I’m maintaining this project” as I’m clearly not 😭. But hopefully you all have turned this into something way more interesting!

The only issues I have on my fork is missing models like Mario and other racers are spinning cubes, Toads Harbour is just gone (lol) things like moo moo cows are gone, bullet bill is gone etc.

Probably something wrong with importing but regarding carts and characters I plan on reworking them to enable MK8 style customization

Hmm, I can’t remember what exactly happened but I have a memory of some file size issues from the past. I have the same version of this project uploaded on google drive. I linked it in the readme but I’ll link it here again:

Maybe I left out some files which were too large, and since I had no clue what I was doing I didn’t bother trying to configure git LFS or whatever. Lemme know if you find any missing files from there.

Maybe I’ll revisit this project in the future and actually use my more recent SWE experience to make the codebase readable this time 😅.

I'm in the process of refactoring the code base but holy moly Player.cs is gonna be a chore

Right now I'm focused on loading in maps dynamically via asset bundles.
Wiring that up to mod.io so people can start cooking up maps.

Then I'm gonna focus on making the player and opponent controllers a prefab cause they are all manually setup in the scene they are in.

As well I'm looking at adding gyro support / joycon tilt controls

@Ishaan35 I found out the cause for the missing models, it was because I didn't have .blend files associated with Blender.

I only found that out when upgrading the project to Unity 6 and it actually told me (lol)
