Guide on how to get the launcher installed on your operating system.

Microsoft Windows

  1. Download the launcher installer from https://github.com/ItsSim/fsolauncher/releases/latest
  2. Run the installer. A SmartScreen window may appear, click on More Info and then Run Anyway.
  3. Follow the installation steps and once finished, the launcher should appear.

Mac OS X

  1. Download the .dmg launcher from https://github.com/ItsSim/fsolauncher/releases/latest
  2. Double-click the .dmg file in your downloads folder. This should mount the dmg and open the installation window.
  3. Drag FreeSO Launcher.app to your Applications folder.
  4. Open the launcher from your Launchpad.

Updating the Launcher (on both platforms)

The best way to update the launcher is to re-download the setup files from https://beta.freeso.org and install it on top of your previous installation (after having closed any running instances of the launcher). On the website, click the Download button and it should download the appropriate version for your operating system (Windows or Mac).

Since version 1.7.5, updates are forced manual. Once an update is available, a message pops up that takes you to the download page in your browser. Before 1.7.5, the launcher tried to download updates on its own, which caused problems for some users. If you're on a version < 1.7.5 and are having problems updating, please try updating with a reinstall.
