Option do set save file extension #168

Unfortunately, I don't have control over the file extension used by RetroArch. That's not something cores can do; only the frontend (RetroArch itself) can do that, as it's responsible for actually saving SRAM to disk.
What does Swanstation do? I suspect it's a little different here, since Swanstation has to manage PS1 memory cards (i.e. it can't use libretro's save data APIs). |

MelonDs uses raw save format, witch is great do go back and forth between the emulator and a DS/3DS flashcart/TWLmenu. Since there is no sync option with real hardware, changing the extension between .srm and .sav adds barely any additional work.
But, for syncing with and android device with Drastic, which has the option to use raw save format as well (with .sav extension) It would be nice to be able to set the file extension for the save files from the traditional retroarch .srm to .sav, similar to how Swanstation core has save format options to match other devices where you'd like to share your saves.
If this core would save or had the option to save to a .sav file, you'd be set for transporting saves to original hardware without the extra step AND the option to sync to and android device to use Drastic while on the go. Even better if there is also and option for the .dsv desmume save format (with the additional footer) so people could also have another via of sharing saves between emulator/devices
