RE: Request for early release of KeeAnywhere 2.2.0 Milestone (In its Current State) in order to allow Non-Admin Users of Windows 7 and 8.1 to continue using KeePass and Dropbox after Windows 7 and 8.1 Dropbox Functionality ends at the end of May, 2025 plus report Installation Bug using Net Framework 4.6.1 with Windows 7.

1. First or Specifically, I am interested in an Early Release to fix Issue #301 which was resolved in Pull #313 so that I can avoid running KeePass with KeeAnywhere in a Administrator Mode on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Currently, I am successfully using KeePass with KeeAnywhere 2.1.0, but only when in Admin Mode which I prefer to avoid.

2. Second, I want to report that I had an Installation problem while using Net Framework 4.6.1 and 4.7.1 with Windows 7, which I eventually resolved by installing Net Framework 4.7.2. My current setup in order to get KeeAnywhere Plugin to “Properly Install” is the following:
*Windows 7 Ultimate X64
*Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable X86 and X64 **(14.42.34433)*Visual C never was the issue!!!
*Microsoft Net Framework 4.7.2 (***Net Framework Ver. 4.6.1 did not work!)

2a. As mentioned above, I had trouble installing the KeeAnywhere 2.1.0 Plugin when using (Net Framework 4.6.1 and 4.7.1) with the following Error:
*The following plugin is incompatible
*Could not load file or Assembly “System.Net.Http, Version = 4.2.0.0

2b. In response to the above Install Issues, I tried the following:

  • Updated my Visual C++ to latest version which did not help
  • Updated my Net Framework to Ver. 4.6.1 which did not help
  • I updated my Net Framework to Ver. 4.7.1 Standalone which did not help
  • I updated my Net Framework to Ver. 4.7.2 Standalone which did solve the Installation issue.

Conclusion:
So, in the end, I had to install Net Framework Ver. 4.7.2 Standalone, which is now working perfectly fine with my Win 7 setup. Perhaps Ver. 4.6.1 doesn’t work in all cases, and the Installation/Setup Prerequisites Page should be updated to reflect my findings.

All I can tell you without going into details is that there were a lot of Bug fixes between Net Framework 4.6.1 and the final Release of Net Framework 4.7.2 (with the Updated Installer) Standalone version that affected my particular setup.

So, I hope this information is helpful for you and for those who read this post concerning the Installation Aspect of my post.
