The Simulation IT Team have successfully ported the atmosphere models (UM, LFRic, Jules, etc.) to the new machines (Azure SPICE and Cray EX), with the exception of the LFRic-Coupled application. While work continues to fully port LFRic-Coupled application, we plan to migrate a version without the rivers component as an initial step. This will enable us to run an LFRic Coupled test on the EX platform while we complete the setup for the rivers component.
With the acceptance of the EX platform, we encourage UM/LFRic reviewers to prioritise their science evaluations on the Cray EX and Azure SPICE platforms right away to ensure science is validated before the imminent removal of the XC40 machines. Although the Azure SPICE platform is not yet fully accepted, moving to it simultaneously poses minimal risk.
Ps: Since the EX platform currently does not fully support the lfric_atm coupled test, evaluations for the coupled configuration should continue on the XC40.
Please get in touch with Simulation IT Team if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement.
