dsm process requiring kill -9

Killing dsm requires -9, Gordon says don't use -r.

I think ISFS has seen this too, and the ISFS stop_dsm script has always had a kill -9 fallback, and ISFS does not use -r. If anyone can reliably recreate this, I'll buy them lunch. I've assumed the scenario is something like this: dsm is running and acquiring data, then it receives an interrupt signal and starts to shut down, which causes a deadlock, requiring a KILL signal to resolve. If we could get a core dump or recreate the hung state, then maybe we can identify the problem and fix it.

If removing -r works for RAF, then ISFS may have a different problem.

Removing -r was Gordon's comment. Not sure if we have tried it. Removing it would mean no updates to the control page / status_listener.
