Example for SmartSpeaker

Hi, I wanted to start with the smartspaker (https://nrchkb.github.io/wiki/service/smart-speaker/#characteristics) for my speakers in Roon (roonlabs.com). How do I set the HomeKit smart speaker the following characteristics (and values) for: Name, CurrentMediaState, TargetMediaState, ConfiguredName, Mute, Volume... What does CurrentMediaState, TargetMediaState mean? How do I set it? Is Mute set with false / true or 0 / 1 ? What is different between Name and ConfiguredName? A brief Node-Red example would help.. Pls advise..

First, I think @TheNON75 might have an example of this. Any chance you can share?

Next, a pair of links that will help explain the bounds and limits of the various characteristics. This should help guide you for true/false or 1/0. And the first link around line 918 will show you what the current and target media states mean.

And finally some comments. The speaker service works best as a stand alone accessory, it shouldn't be on a bridge. Currently we have no difference between configured name and name.

The format of your input payload should be json like this:

One small warning, this is one of the more difficult services. If you're totally new to the project, I'd recommend an hour or so fiddling with the demo

Ps: line 2104- mute is bool so true/false

Hi, thanks for the guidance and pointers! I will try this out and post my example. I am at an intermediate level as I did master the WindowsCover one well!!! Will share any examples in this thread..

Hi @ckishappy , I've just put together for sharing an example flow for smartspeaker (cleaned up my flow in PROD), however as I understand, you are quite ok with the knowhow :)
So far it seems like no volume and media controls (just like track info) can be made enabled or shown, however the CurrentMediaState works and by tapping the speaker icon in the home app, you can toggle between pause and play.

Please share if you managed to get volume or media controls to work.

Hi, thanks - I did manage to use the smartspeaker element to play / stop (with CurrentMediaState and TargetMediaState). The Volume, Mute or Media controls I couldn't get to work yet really.. I do use a play / stop switch for each of my 10 speakers with a normal HomeKit switch so far (with great performance = very little latency). But of course I want to add the volume / mute / possibly a couple of lines what is playing (=track info) per speaker going forward. I keep watching this space here to see how we could progress to get the missing parts included.

Some quick research shows that the service would need Airplay 2 for the volume and media controls to work (see homebridge/homebridge#2553)? I have not validated this further.
