In NorESM3, N-deposition is handled by CDEPS(?) and passed to the land and ocean models. Although land currently does not use N-deposition we need it for BLOM.
I am currently trying to download the CMIP7 N-deposition data (https://input4mips-cvs.readthedocs.io/en/latest/dataset-overviews/nitrogen-deposition/) from input4MIPs. According to the documentation, the data format has not changed compared to CMIP6, and if this is correct it should be easy to replace the CMIP6 data by the CMIP7 data.
I have however no insight into how the N-deposition works in NorESM3, so I would be grateful about some guidance @mvertens @jmaerz
