On GNOME 46 (the default for Ubuntu 24.04 Noble LTS), the Ergol dead key triggers two times after pressing it once:

The solution is to set some variables in /etc/environment:
/etc/environment
INPUT_METHOD=ibus GTK_IM_MODULE=ibus QT_IM_MODULE=ibus XMODIFIERS=@im=ibus
