FWIW, the default Elk palette looks pleasant to me.

The Elk palette is interesting :

  • #232323 over #fafafa in light mode (#686868 for the banner and light text)
  • #f3f3f3 over #111111 in dark mode (#888888 for the banner and light text)
  • the accent color is the same in both light and dark modes, #cc7d24, and is used for the favicon
