We need to release 1.0. We hope to make the spec workable with ReSpec to do this.

For 2.0, we want:

• drop "update" because it is ambiguous. Add "Add" and "replace" to make that clear (for arrays)
• "semantic targets".
  • Maybe add "targetType" to Action object
    • This could be done to allow 1.0 docs to be valid 2.0 docs
  • Allow "target" to limit the scope of the search for target types
  • Also possibly allow "filter" to filter target types
  • Will require a "DOM"
    • Maybe add a "format" or "doctype" item to the Overlay object to determine the DOM to use
    • Establish DOMs for OpenAPI2, 3, 3.1, AsyncAPI, Arazzo, maybe others
      • Mostly derived from the appropriate spec, but needs to take references into account

What about ref resolution ?

• Spec seems to say that the input document may not have references resolved.
• Is there something we should do to help users deal with unresolved documents?
