DESCRIPTION
In the account_invoice_production_lot module, the lot number of the product is displayed. However, if the product has an expiration date, this critical information is currently absent.
Both Regulation (EC) 178/2002 and Regulation (EC) 852/2004 require all operators within the food chain (including B2B transactions) to ensure comprehensive food traceability. This entails:
Clear identification of the products sold, including their batch numbers.
The ability to track and trace products efficiently in the event of alerts or recalls.
While these regulations do not explicitly mandate that expiration dates be included on invoices, they do require that such information be readily accessible between companies. Many businesses, therefore, choose to include expiration dates directly on invoices as a practical measure to meet traceability requirements. This approach is also relevant in other regulated industries such as the pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors.
It is important to note that Spanish legislation does not generally impose the obligation to include expiration dates on invoices. However, if the customer’s business activities are governed by specific regulations, terms, or commercial agreements, an obligation to include such information on invoices may arise.
Given these considerations, it would be highly beneficial for the Odoo functionality to support the inclusion of expiration dates alongside lot numbers. This enhancement would provide users with the flexibility to display expiration dates on delivery notes and/or invoices, depending on their operational or regulatory requirements.
