Here it is, the second alpha release for Boosted v5! The v5 documentation is continuously deployed on Netlify, check it out.
Bootstrap v5.0.0-alpha2
As usual, Bootstrap made an announcement post on their blog—and you can read the full changelog on GitHub.
As mentioned in our first alpha post, most of the current work currently happens in Bootstrap directly (eg. RTL, which should land with alpha3) and we're proud to tell that we've committed plenty of accessibility improvements in Bootstrap (bumping the minimum contrast ratio to 4.5:1 for example!) and backported some Boosted customization to Bootstrap core (close button, color contrasts, etc.) resulting in having way fewer differences between Boosted v4 / v5, compared to Bootstrap v4 / v5.
Boosted v5.0.0-alpha2
Most v4 changes have been forwarded to v5, but there's more! You may want to read our own changelog on GitHub.
Introducing "Design Guidelines"
A brand new "Design Guidelines" section is introduced in alpha2, meant to be a high-fidelity implementation of Orange Web UI Kit —sharing as much as possible layout and IDs— to make easier than ever to find the accurate Boosted docs when coming from the UI Kit.
Even more tests!
Boosted v5 is now protected by automated accessibility tests with Pa11y, and visual regression testing using Percy. Pull requests cannot be merged anymore in
v5-dev
if one of them is failing. This is a huge improvement, ensuring Boosted stays consistent and qualitative. And there's a lot more to come! If you want to have a look at Boosted v5 roadmap, be our guest: and if you want to help, feel free to open a PR against v5-dev! You can also find us on our Orange internal communication tool, and are welcome to open an issue or request a feature on GitHub.
