--with-libcurl=<path> Location where curl/curl.h is installed

Hello,

./configure says --with-libcurl=<path> Location where curl/curl.h is installed
What is needed, only the header file from the source, or the complete curl software?
And when this is missing, it should not say:

...
checking for curl/curl.h... no
configure: error: header file <curl/curl.h> is required, try specifying --with-libcurl
now run 'gmake world' and as root 'gmake install-world'

i.e. it should not motivate the user to run gmake world.

It seems to me that libcurl-dev is not installed on the system.
For Debian/Ubuntu
sudo apt-get install libcurl-dev
OR
For openssl variant
sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev

For RHEL
sudo yum install curl-devel

Can you try this?

I compiled now curl from source and it is below (header in /usr/local/sisis-pap/include/curl/curl.h and libs in

/usr/local/sisis-pap/lib/libcurl.so
/usr/local/sisis-pap/lib/libcurl.la
/usr/local/sisis-pap/lib/pkgconfig/libcurl.pc
/usr/local/sisis-pap/lib/libcurl.so.4.8.0
/usr/local/sisis-pap/lib/libcurl.a
/usr/local/sisis-pap/lib/libcurl.so.4

I run the configure with a script which ends up fine:

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/sisis-pap/lib

cd ~sisis/mpi-V73/pg_tde || exit

export LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/sisis-pap/lib -L/usr/lib64"
export CFLAGS="-m64 -I/usr/local/sisis-pap/include"
export CPPFLAGS="-m64 -I/usr/local/sisis-pap/include"

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/sisis-pap/pgsql-16.2 \
            --libdir=/usr/local/sisis-pap/pgsql-16.2/lib \
            --with-libcurl=/usr/local/sisis-pap/

...
checking for unistd.h... yes
checking for curl/curl.h... yes
checking for curl_easy_setopt in -lcurl... yes
configure: creating ./config.status
config.status: creating Makefile

But the make failes with:

gmake world
Makefile:60: /contrib/contrib-global.mk: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
gmake: *** Keine Regel, um „/contrib/contrib-global.mk“ zu erstellen.  Schluss.

Looks like there should be some pointer to the place where the PostgreSQL 16.2 was compiled:

ls -ld pg_tde postgresql-16.2
drwxr-xr-x 12 sisis sisis 1024 27. Mär 13:10 pg_tde
drwxr-xr-x  6 sisis sisis 1024 12. Mär 06:51 postgresql-16.2

find postgresql-16.2 -name contrib-global.mk

Looks like the pg_tde top dir should be placed below postgresql-16.2/contrib. Did I overlooked this in the instructions?

Moving the tree with mv pg_tde postgresql-16.2/contrib/ helped, all fine. This just should be documented that the pg_tde tree must be placed below postgresql-16.2/contrib/
