The UDP server passes most of the controller data, including buttons and axes.

I don't remember if profile settings applies to the data being passes through the server, but if you are trying to use it with an emulator then most emulators allow you to use the normal virtual controller DS4W creates (which is affected by the profile) for the general button/sticks/triggers bindings and use the UDP server just for motion.
